EDWIN GREAVES COMMENTS ON THE CAGEMEN'S 10-0 DRUBBING OF COVENTRY COPSEWOOD...

EDWIN GREAVES SPEAKS  about the victory over local rivals Coventry Copsewood...

"This game was the perfect one for us after losing to Atherstone in the Cup.

A lot has been said on the run up to this game about my players but I think to a man they all delivered a performance to be proud of. My aim for this game was to get the 3 points and return back to the top of the table, as this was one of our games in hand.

The game itself didn't turn out to be anything like I expected for a local derby, however when coaches, players and fans know each other, you know the result means everything.

An early goal by Richard Blythe got us off to a great start and then Copsewood going down to 10 men put us in the driving seat. At 3-0 up at half-time we just had to maintain our discipline in the 2nd half and take any chances that came our way.

Rich Morris again pulled off some crucial saves when called upon as Copsewood kept going to the end.

I was very happy with the way we defended: Tommy, Callum, Mav, Ben and Pierre dealt with everything thrown at them and to get a clean sheet was the icing on the cake.

The lads In front of them Coxy, Blythe, Man of the Match Gift, Josh, Briscoe and Matty also put in a shift each and created chances almost every time we attacked.

7 second half goals (4 coming in the last 10 minutes) tells you that in this game we took most of them and substitutes Kai and Muzzy also chipped in with goals. This was a good night for everybody connected to Coventry United and the Red and Green Army had a night to remember.

As for me, we now move onto the next game. February is a big month for us and will almost certainly define our season.

Points on the board is the most important thing and we still have 19 games to play. Our opponents are turning up as if they are playing in a cup final, so no game will be easy for us.

Our feet are firmly on the ground and we still have another 57 points to play for.
Next up for us is Racing Club Warwick away and I hope to see the Red and Green Army out in force."

"One Game At A Time..."
