HIGHGATE UNITED SKIPPER TREVOR EDWARDS COMMENTS ON HIS TEAM'S DEFEAT BY WESTFIELDS...

The views of Trevor Edwards:

"It's always a tough game against Westfields and even though they have to travel a fair distance it doesn't seem to affect them.

We started quite brightly, had a lot of possession of the ball but just didn't have the creativity to unlock the Westfields defence. They kept their shape very well and we couldn't break them down and although we had a couple of half chances, nothing clear cut.

I felt we were unlucky with a couple of penalty shouts which I'm positive on any other day, the referee would have pointed to the spot. As the half went on, Westfields got more into the game and when their chance came they took it. The lad finished it well but it was poor defending by us .

The second-half got going with the familiar pattern of us having a lot of possession but we never really looked like scoring. Westfields were happy to keep their shape and they did it very well.

They got their wingers more into the game and caused us problems, then as the half went on, the game got more stretched. We went more direct and they played on the break and in my opinion they deserved their second goal.

We seemed to have a lot of tired bodies and didn't play to our usual standards but fair play to Westfields, they deserved the 3 points.

We've got to dust ourselves down and go again on Saturday..."
