SIMON FITTER'S GREAT VIEWS ON BROMSGROVE SPORTING'S 4-2 VICTORY OVER RIVALS COVENTRY UNITED...

SIMON FITTER, SEEN HERE BEING ASKED FOR A SELFIE BY BIRMINGHAM MANAGER GARY ROWETT, COMMENTS ON BROMSGROVE'S 4-2 VICTORY OVER COVENTRY UNITED:

"From our point of view we had to win the game! We met a little earlier than usual for the match and I think the gaffer was just so excited about it, he didn't sleep and couldn't wait to get there and get the lads' heads on it!

To be honest, I couldn't wait either, for we were expecting a big crowd as well, but WOW, not a crowd like that! Over 1000 fans cheering us on for probably one of the biggest games in the club's history and by god, did they cheer us on!

There was no way we were going to let them down, we just couldn't! If I'm honest, I don't remember much of the game, for I was mentally drained from concentrating for 90 mins: old age maybe?

Coventry started brighter but then when Brainer went through 1 on 1 with their 'keeper, he doesn't miss many of them and he coolly slotted home. I think it took a bit of the pressure off us and then we started to play, so that before you knew it, we were 3-0 up with another two super strikes from Tuggs and Connor, who I thought battled brilliantly all day agaisnt both their centre backs.

Sorry Spinks, but he should have made it 4-0 just before half-time with only a defender to beat on the line; I don't know how he got it so high, although he told me there was a little bobble. As he is top lad who is as honest as they come, I'll believe him as long as he buys me a beer!

Second-half we knew Cov had nothing to lose and they were going to have a go; they got the 1 goal back to make it a little tighter but they didn't really push on after that which surprised me but I was very happy with it too.

We went up the other end and wouldn't you know it, 100th appearance man, 'The Legend' he calls himself, 'Azzatelli' Roberts hit a perfectly timed volley into the back of the net. To be honest he deserved it and had said he was going to score! That took the pressure off us and knocked everything out of Cov.

We should have had a penalty but didn't get it then they got one which was exactly the same! Oh, well a consolation only, that actually didn't reflect the game as we should have won by more!

But all that mattered was getting the 3 points and putting more pressure on the 2 games in hand they have! The Gaffer,  Sock and Nick got their tactics right and the homework they had done on Cov was spot on. The game-plan was perfect and the day couldn't have gone any better, so a lot of credit goes to those 3. Nick wasn't able to make it but tells me he was on the phone for the whole game!

At the end, the lads from 1-11, the subs and the lads not involved were all unreal, all day; I hope the fans come back like that too, as they call themselves the '12th man' and they certainly are!

The best about!"
