COVENTRY UNITED COACH HARRY BARNES WRITES ABOUT HIS TEAM'S 3-2 WIN v NUNEATON GRIFF...

HARRY, RIGHT, SNUGGLES UP TO A RELATIVE OF MINE...

"Credit to Griff last night for coming to Sphinx Drive with a slightly more positive approach to their football than in the first game at their place. They created 4 or 5 great chances to score but luckily for us they could only put away 2 of them.

After an early lead and a couple of decent chances from us, Griff found themselves level after Mozza couldn't get a strong enough hand to a powerful finish.

Second-half there wasn't much spectacular stuff early on and then once Griff got their 2nd goal they seemed to finally come alive and create a couple more chances, one of which Ben Vallance cleared off the line when it looked certain to be 3-1. They're the forgotten moments that win you leagues.

After what felt at the time like an identical moment to that late equaliser vs Hinckley, Rob Prinzel does exactly that and equalises from a Josh O'Grady corner in what felt like the last minute. This was followed by Griff immediately hitting the crossbar a minute after kicking back off.

Luckily for us, Josh O'Grady can be a tricky guy to tackle when he's running at you with his 99 pace into the box and a tired looking challenge lead to a foul on him, which won us a penalty. Coxy had the balls to take it under such pressure and it was a top penalty.

Unfortunately, things got a bit scrappy when Matt Brown came on for us, as the Nuneaton lads were still not happy about one of their lads getting sent off in the reverse fixture for an off the ball incident.

This showed when 3 or 4 of their lads looked to surround him, with Matt ending up on the ground. What followed from there was not the way we want to end such an entertaining football match, with only one serious incident to come from this which I'm sure the right people will investigate."
