KNOWLE FC'S CHRIS KNOTT WRITES ABOUT HIS TEAM'S 1-2 WIN @ BRINKLOW...

CHRIS KNOTT...

"Knowle travelled to Brinklow for their first pre-season run out and endured a good test.

Using 19 players during the game, Knowle struggled to get into any rhythm with lots of changes and against a competitive and organised Brinklow side.

After just 2 minutes Knowle conceded when Perry Cox failed to claim a free-kick and it was headed home powerfully to put Brinklow 1-0 up. Brinklow dominated for the next 25 mins and could/should have gone 2 or even 3 up, missing a couple of set piece scraps and hitting a post.

Slowly Knowle came into the game and equalised through Ben Ellicott with a calm finish after breaking the offside trap, but this was 1 of only 3 half-chances Knowle created in a poor first-half performance.

4 half-time changes helped and Callum Ingram and Roz Kane began to break up play in the middle and the forward line looked more threatening in behind. Rich Collins' delicate through-ball found Ben Ellicott after a defensive mix up and the forward calmly finished to put Knowle 2-1 up.

The introduction of Torryn Connolly stretched the game for Knowle and he had a couple of chances to put the game out of sight as Knowle dominated a 15 minute spell.

The last 10 minutes were played at a tired pace with both sides having half-chances from individual errors.

Overall, a good run out and plenty to work on for Knowle before the season is upon us.

All the best to Edwin and Ian for the season, two great football people and a lovely set up at Brinklow."
