'THORNS': A POEM ABOUT CONSTANTINE BAY, CORNWALL...

Thorns

Sanctity clawed at,
Clung to;
Pricked by
Thorns and the cruel spikes,
Forcing holiness
Into a veritable pit
Of weathered, crumbling stone.

Christ nailed through,
Mocked with;
Pierced by
Thorns on a cruel crown,
Forcing His Holiness
Onto a wooden cross
Of crucifixion, alone…

Constantine’s buried and crumbling church; Christ nailed to wood.
