AFC BINLEY 6-0 TRIUMPH ATHLETIC RESERVES: THE VIEWS OF EDWIN GREAVES, THE AFC BINLEY MANAGER...

AFC Binley 6-0 Triumph Athletic Reserves...

Triumph started the game brightly but against the run of play we scored in the 15th minute with our very first attack. A Tatenda Bako pass found Tyler Morgan in space whose first shot was saved by the Triumph goalkeeper but Tyler put the rebound in: 1-0.

We almost doubled our lead 3 minutes later when a sliced clearance from the Triumph goalkeeper went straight to Paul Govier but he volleyed over the target.
In the 24th Tyler Morgan and Paul Govier linked up well with Paul Govier's shot going through the goalkeeper's legs: 2-0.

On the stroke of half-time a Reece Simpson free-kick was headed down by Danny Vincent for Fabian Spence to score: 3-0.

Half-time: 3-0.

The 2nd half started with both Paul Govier and Tyler Morgan having good opportunities in the box to score but both shot wide.

In the 58th minute a Reece Simpson pass found Tyler Morgan and he made no mistake with his finish: 4-0.

Tyler Morgan completed his hat-trick in the 62nd minute, heading home a Danny Vincent cross: 5-0.

Tyler Morgan scored his 4th of the day and our 6th when getting on the end of another Danny Vincent cross, before turning inside the box and scoring with a cheeky chip: 6-0.
In the 67th minute Reece Simpson and Paul Govier were replaced by Jack Campbell-Watkins and Travis Smallwood.

In the 70th minute Tyler Morgan was replaced by Kyle Metcalfe.

Ryan Oldham was forced to make two very good saves and Travis Smallwood had his shot saved when through on goal.

Triumph had a goal disallowed for offside and Kyle Metcalfe had a couple of shots on goal.

Full-time: 6-0.

In summing up this game:

We were lucky that this game beat the weather and was the only Alliance 3 game to go ahead.
Triumph started the game well and we scored our first goal against the run of play.

Once in front we controlled the game and were happy to collect the 3 points on offer today.

Triumph never gave up and their team spirit was good throughout the game and on another day they could have had a couple of goals themselves.

We now have a 2 week break for Christmas and return back in the New Year with a couple of cup games to deal with.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year...
